Hey sexies! Just a Copic Marker Quick tip! While coloring a drawing (to be uploaded soon), I struggled with an issue that I have come across several times before. The problem is the ink coming out of a certain marker appears blotchy and and is clumped and sticky, and causes a grungy, messy texture. Have any of you had this problem before? Well, the reason is because the pigment in the marker is too strong, this usually happens with very saturated colors. Markers that have done this to me before are B06, R39, R37, V99 and so forth. A solution is to either: A) use a different marker, B) use the medium broad nib instead, or C) Change the nib, and refill the marker. The cause is that when exposed to too much oxygen, the strong pigment starts to slightly dry and crystallize, therefor causing a blockage. The polyester nib is then slightly damaged and will produce the same ink flow unless it is changed. I recommend to deal with this right away because it could damage the quality of your coloring!

Thank You
Thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes. Just so you know, 'Happy Birthday' in an ancient foreign language means "I solemnly swear to be your slave for all the ever.", so... gotcha all. Gotcha real good. Thanks again and I'm super sorry I've been super busy, I promise I will try to create something soon!
New Copic Tutorial?
It has been super highly requested and my other tutorial is quite outdated. I have been thinking about making one with more informative specialty tips and tips for Copic users on a budget. So....
Do you want one? :D

Thanks for posting this...I was actually wondering if this might be the case, but this particular marker that I've had trouble with since day one doesn't seem like it should be so saturated as to cause this problem....
E30...
However, none of the other normal tricks for correcting the problem ever worked (including replacing BOTH nibs and using over 1/2 a bottle of refill wondering where it all went???)
So, I'm going to try the refill with 85% alcohol and see if that works...basically I have nothing to loose anyway, since at this point continuing to 1. avoid the use of the marker 2. having to go over area with CB, 3. replacing the nib every time I want to use it, or the least pleasant... 4. throwing it out...ugh!
My tip: I keep my caps and outsides clean by using alcohol and tissue once a month or after a really big project....
